About the Founder
David's Journey in Education
With 25+ years in education reform, David is dedicated to elevating human potential and consciousness through transformative educational programs for both children and adults.
Changemaker Education is the culmination of his experience launching award-winning unconventional schools (charter, micro, private), serving as a teacher, school principal, charter network executive, and drawing on his expertise in leadership development, life coaching, and mindset teaching.
David’s personal healing journey inspired the creation of the Mind, Body, Soul (MBS) program—a core element of Changemaker Education’s mission to empower communities and individuals.
David holds degrees from UC Berkeley and Stanford University and lives in Sacramento with his family.
About the COO
Joy’s Journey in Education
With over 20 years of operational leadership in education, Joy is dedicated to building systems and cultures where students and educators thrive.
As Chief Operating Officer of Changemaker Education, she develops the operational capacity, systems, and Founder support network that power affiliate microschools.
Previously, Joy served as COO of iD Tech for 23 years, where she launched and scaled 12 unique STEM learning experiences rooted in project-based learning to more than 190 worldwide, serving over 600,000 students and 10,000 staff across seven countries.
Known for her Partner Leadership style, Joy fosters trust, autonomy, and joyful high performance. At Changemaker Education, she applies these principles to ensure operational excellence while preserving the creativity, intimacy, and innovation that define microschools.
Joy lives with her family in Los Angeles, California, and continues to be inspired by the next generation of changemakers.
