FAQ's

Here are some common questions about contacting Changemaker EDU. We’re here to help!

What is a microschool, and how is it different from traditional schooling?

According to the National Microschooling Center (https://microschoolingcenter.org/), a microschool has anywhere from 5-150 students. Unlike traditional schools, microschools at Changemaker offer small class sizes, personalized learning plans, deep integration with the local community, and the freedom for students to explore their interests. We believe education is relational, not transactional.

What makes Changemaker Education different from other microschool or alternative school networks?

We support both families and Founders; we don’t “sell a franchise.” Our support includes curriculum (Mind, Body, Soul framework), coaching, operational tools, community network, and ongoing support as founders scale. (You can see our “Why Changemaker” page for more.)

Who is Changemaker for — families, educators, or both?

We serve both. Families come seeking a more human, personalized learning environment for their child. Educators, visionary leaders, and aspiring school founders come to us for coaching, systems, and community as they build a microschool.

How do I enroll my student in a Changemaker microschool?

The process typically involves an informational call, campus visit (or virtual visit), admissions interview, application form, and orientation. Contact your local microschool or founder to see if your student's age is a match. (You can see our “Find a Microschool” page for a listing of our locations.)

What is your curriculum & learning approach?

We use a Mind, Body, Soul (MBS) curriculum that integrates social-emotional learning, project-based work, self-directed learning, and community engagement. Students co-create learning goals and projects. Our microschools leverage competency-based progressions, portfolios, reflective practices, qualitative feedback, and goal tracking rather than emphasizing standardized tests.
