Navigating Growth: Grades 6–12
North Star Academy Microschool serves students in grades 6–12 through a personalized, hybrid model. Students learn in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Kasson through projects, wellness, and mentoring, and online on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays through individualized academics. This balance builds independence, curiosity, and confidence as students discover purpose and direction in a supportive community.
Navigating Knowledge
At North Star Academy Microschool, students in grades 6–12 follow personalized learning pathways that blend academics, wellness, and purpose. Our hybrid model includes in-person learning Tuesdays and Thursdays for collaboration and projects, and online learning Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for flexible, self-paced academics. About the Founder
Dr. Nick Pocius, founder of North Star Academy Microschool, is an experienced educator, coach, and advocate for student voice and equitable learning. With over 20 years in special education, he designed North Star to blend flexibility, wellness, and connection, creating a space where students in grades 6–12 can thrive academically, emotionally, and socially. Rooted in community and guided by purpose, his work focuses on helping every learner find their direction and shine their light.

All our microschools share Changemaker's Mind Body Soul curriculum that integrates social-emotional learning, project-based work, self-directed learning, and community engagement. Students co-create learning goals and projects in conversation with facilitators, explore interest-based themes, pitch project ideas, prototype, iterate, and share outcomes with the community.
